CHAPTER 2 BLOG - First Civilizations

The first civilizations of people and the way in which they lived was considered a huger step in the way in which civilizations before them, like the Neolithic and Paleolithic peoples had lived beforehand.

The chapter talks about the ancient lands of Mesopotamia and Egypt and compared the two. The first civilizations were evolving for many years and changed their habits, way of living, and skillset over centuries. With the development of these first civilizations, improvements in everything came with it. Some of these aspects are;
  1. Improvements and increases in the quality and volume of food being produced
  2. Better building structures and quality of living
  3. Cleaner resources and health
  4. Education
  5. Writing and communication improved

Religion played a big role in society back in the days of the first civilizations. Laws and principles were strict and harsh and almost everybody had to abide by the religion that ruled over their respective geographic area. Architectural advancement and the structures that were created throughout this time, particularly the pyramid in Egypt, are a monument to these civilizations and show how amazing, innovative and hardworking homo sapiens were as a race all those thousands of years ago.

Gender inequality was also rampant in this era. Patriarchy had not yet existed and men back then thought that they had rights to own the woman. It was such an epidemic and lasted for thousands off years that this is a defying characteristic of the first civilizations.
